The kit builds understanding of the role of various shampoo ingredients, and includes tests for identifying different shampoo properties, such as determining relative viscosity, pH, flash-foam formation and retention, oil emulsification, and contaminant-dispersion abilities. For hands-on learning, the kit has materials for 15 groups of students, including shampoo, black ink, vegetable oil, universal indicator strips, graduated plastic pipettes, copper balls, disposable medicine cups, polystyrene test tubes, and plastic centrifuge tubes. Polystyrene (PS) is hard plastic with limited flexibility, that can be cast into molds and produced transparent or in various colors. The kit has a teacher’s manual and student study guide copymasters for instructional use, and a material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures.
