Aids in the Prevention of Excessive Hair Loss
Short version: This garlic shampoo, as unassuming as it looks in an almost generic, non-fancy label and bottle, works for hair loss!My longer version if you care to read it: I started experiencing severe hair loss about a year ago. I have long hair (well, halfway to my elbow). I've always lost hair after shower or drying my hair, etc., but last year, it got to be extreme, as in, my hair would cover the shower drain cover, I would dry my hair and could pick up a big cluster of hair from the floor. I took a picture of the top of my head and panicked, because I could see my scalp and how sparse my hair had become. The last time I had anything similar was after I had my son 12 years ago, but it stopped falling out like that on its own after a few months without me doing anything. I thought it would eventually settle down, but it didn't.My friend said my hair loss may have been from catching COVID; I wish that was to blame, but I couldn't blame it on that, because my hair was falling out before I had COVID (and mine was super light case, too. Except smell. I still don't have 100% sense of smell back. Booooo.)While I was talking to one of my co-workers about it one day, she recommended this garlic shampoo. I was skeptical of getting hair advice from a girl half my age with a whole head of beautiful hair. She said hers had thinned out considerably, and she texted me the link for this garlic shampoo. I honestly didn't think it would work, but I figured, why not. I buy shampoo and wash my hair anyways, so I'll give it a try. I asked her if she bought the conditioner, too, and she said no, she just uses some other "regular" conditioner. So I bought the shampoo only. This garlic shampoo comes in a plastic bottle, nothing fancy. The shampoo itself is semi-glossy pink. First two weeks of using the shampoo, nothing. I was still losing the same amount of hair. I would follow the instructions; lather, wait 5 minutes (I brushed my teeth, washed my body, shaved, etc.), then rinsed it out and applied some other normal conditioner from like halfway down (without applying it to my scalp). I was not expecting a miracle or any substantial results anyways, so I thought I'd finish the bottle and then move onto finding some other solution if I can find any. Then!! I started noticing that I was not shedding like I was a few weeks ago. After a month, I was back to my "normal" amount of shedding (10-15 every time I shower). I didn't wake up to stands of hair on my sheets on the bed in the morning. What the heck!! I honestly cannot believe this bottle of garlic shampoo worked. I don't know how it works, but it just does! So I bought some more garlic shampoo. And just because I'm one of those people that gets paranoid that an item will be discontinued, I now have a little stash of garlic shampoo under my sink.I still use the same conditioner (Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition conditioner), but I no longer use the shampoo of the same (although the rest of my family still does). I've used it on my scalp here and there, but it doesn't change the few pieces of hair that fall out, so I continue to use the conditioner. If you're a female losing an extreme amount of hair for no particular reason (I was not sick, I eat tons of food, no major stress), I would definitely give it a try.The ONLY thing I can't say for sure is the smell of the shampoo. Like I said, I caught COVID, and although it was a very light case, I lost my sense of smell, and it's taken me a long time to get it back to smell the right things. Some familiar things that I know don't smell the same yet. My husband knows this, so he made fun of me once and said my hair smells like garlic, and I got super self-conscious about it. My co-workers and friends said it doesn't smell like garlic, so I'm trusting them on that. I smell a certain scent that is acceptable to me, but I honestly don't know how it REALLY smells. It's not an amazing smell (smells just like generic shampoo). I hope the scent is not too strong, and I sure hope it doesn't smell anything like garlic. But that's my only concern/uncertainty about it.
